About Caledon

Caledon is a rural town in Peel Region, part of the Greater Toronto Area, with a population of approximately 77,000 residents. Covering a vast area of 688 square kilometers, Caledon is the largest municipality in Peel Region and offers a unique blend of rural countryside, small villages, and natural beauty. The town is located northwest of Toronto, bordered by Brampton to the south and extending to the Niagara Escarpment in the west.

The community is characterized by picturesque villages including Bolton, Caledon East, Belfountain, and Alton, each with distinct charm and heritage. Caledon is home to numerous conservation areas, equestrian facilities, golf courses, and outdoor recreation opportunities. The town features the scenic Caledon Trailway, part of the Trans Canada Trail, and hosts the popular Cheltenham Badlands geological formation. The Forks of the Credit Provincial Park and numerous waterfalls attract nature enthusiasts year-round.

Caledon's economy includes agriculture, equestrian industries, tourism, and growing residential development. Caledon encompasses several distinct villages and hamlets, including Bolton (the largest settlement), Caledon Village, Caledon East, Inglewood, Cheltenham, Belfountain, Alton, and Palgrave. Each community maintains its own identity while contributing to Caledon's diverse rural character. The Oak Ridges Moraine runs through the eastern part of the town, providing important ecological and recreational features.
