About Petawawa
Petawawa is a town in Eastern Ontario located on the Ottawa River, with a population of approximately 18,000 residents. The town is best known as home to Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Petawawa, one of Canada's largest and most important military installations. The military base has a major influence on the community's economy, demographics, and character.
CFB Petawawa serves as home to a significant portion of the Canadian Army and hosts training operations year-round. The civilian town of Petawawa has grown alongside the base, offering services, housing, and amenities for military families and civilians. The Ottawa River forms the northern boundary of the town, while the Petawawa River flows through the area. The town's proximity to Algonquin Provincial Park (approximately 80 km south) makes it a convenient base for outdoor enthusiasts.
